There is an old saying that a chaplain can always be a minister, but a minister cannot always be a chaplain. Ordained chaplains must be come ordained ministers first. Chaplain Fellowship Ministries ordains our members as ministers and chaplains. Becoming a licensed or ordained chaplain and minister is not a trivial matter. It represents the setting apart of an individual for ministry, but how does one become legally licensed or ordained within the laws that govern our society? There are many misconceptions about licensing and ordination in existence today.

The courts have ruled that a ministry or church has the right to license and ordain their own ministers. However the courts have also allowed the IRS to establish criteria to determine whether a minister qualifies as an legally ordained minister. The truth is, to be become legally ordained in the eyes of the laws that govern our society we must first complete a prescribed course of study. This is why Chaplain Fellowship Ministries has set up the basic chaplain program.

Basic Chaplains are those who have very little experience and never been legally ordained. Basic chaplains will be issued their membership and licensed to minister as a chaplain and minister for a period of one year, or until they have completed the required courses of study for ordination. Chaplain Fellowship Ministries provides the required course of study on CD only, free of charge to the new member. Licensed chaplains and ministers do not have the authority to perform wedding, funerals or any other rights afforded to legally ordained members of the clergy.

The required courses of study for ordination consist of four college level bible courses. These are not bible study course, they are college level courses. Certificates of completion will be issued for each course completed with a passing score of at least 82%. There is a ten dollar examination fee due for each exams when submitted for certificates of completion.

1. The Old Testament: For course description....

2. New testament: For course description...........

3. Evangelism: For course description..................

4. Intercessory Prayer: For course description .

After all required courses have been completed Chaplain Fellowship Ministries will officially ordain the basic chaplain as an ordained chaplain and minister. If the courses of instruction are not completed within the first year, the Basic Chaplain will be able to renew their membership for another year as a basic chaplain, or until the required course of instruction have been completed.
